Business Interview with Cal Ripken, Jr.

In 2007, I did an informal 15-minute "business interview" with Cal Ripken, Jr. for a presentation at the 2007 International Racquet and Sports Club's Management Institute. Cal's businesses were all growing and were successful and I felt Institute participants would find his business insights thoughtful and interesting.

The six sections of the interview in order are:
1. Cal talking about the Ripken Baseball Complex in his hometown of Aberdeen, MD;
2. Cal's perspective on a "business failure";
3. Cal on the importance of trust;
4. How Ripken Baseball's Mission and Values were developed;
5. Cal explains the Ripken Way; and
6. A "business important" Ripken characteristic - awareness of self and awareness of others.
